Core features:
1. Durable
This is the prominent advantage of PVC tape. It is much more durable than traditional fabric tape, especially on rough surfaces such as land hockey or floor ball. One wrap can last for a long time, unlike fabric tape which wears out and frays quickly.
2. Smooth surface
The surface is hard and very smooth, which is completely opposite to the fabric tape that provides friction.
3. Waterproof and moisture-proof
The PVC material is completely impermeable to water. In ice hockey, it does not absorb ice water like fabric tape and becomes slippery, heavy, and prone to damage.
4. Heavier
Due to its high material density, PVC tape is heavier than fabric tape, which slightly increases the overall weight of the stick.
Main applications
1. The application scenarios of PVC tape are very specific:
Land hockey/skateball (Inline/Street Hockey)
This is the main application field of PVC tape. Cement floors, asphalt roads, or sports floors are worn by the tape, while fabric tape may tear and fray within minutes, while PVC tape can withstand such tests.
2. Wrapping the head of an ice hockey goalie
Many ice hockey goalies prefer to wrap the head of the stick with PVC tape. Because it is waterproof, it will not freeze and harden due to absorbing ice water, maintaining consistent performance. The smooth surface also facilitates the goalie's control of the rebound direction.
3. Personalized choice for ice hockey players
A small number of ice hockey players (especially defenders) prefer to wrap a thin layer of PVC tape on top of the fabric tape. They pursue a crisp ball-throwing sensation and additional durability, but this is a very niche choice.
4. Decoration and reinforcement
Due to its bright and long-lasting color, it is also often used to wrap decorative stripes on the stick, or after wrapping the fabric tape, PVC tape is used to reinforce the wear-prone areas such as the bottom and tip of the head.
